How This Service Works
Depending on the authorized plan of care, PCA support may include bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transfers, mobility assistance, eating, and other routine personal-care activities. The level of assistance should match the individual’s assessed needs and encourage participation whenever it is safe and appropriate.
PCA services may also include approved instrumental activities of daily living when permitted by the individual’s program or plan. Caregivers are expected to protect privacy, follow infection-control and safety practices, document services accurately, and report meaningful changes in condition or functioning.
The purpose of PCA care is to help the individual remain as independent as possible while receiving the level of direct assistance needed to complete daily routines safely and consistently.
