How This Service Works
Services may involve following an approved behavioral support plan, reinforcing positive routines, using consistent communication strategies, documenting significant events, and helping the individual use coping or self-regulation skills identified by qualified professionals.
Direct support staff do not replace licensed mental health clinicians unless they are separately qualified and authorized to provide those clinical services. Staff should follow the established plan, report concerns, and use only approved strategies.
Support should remain person-centered, respectful, least restrictive, and focused on improving safety, participation, communication, and quality of life.
